Licensing

SnowSweet® and Zestar!® Apples are protected under the US Plant Patent Act and by Plant Breeders Rights in several other countries. Honeycrisp, or Honeycrunch, Apples are protected in Canada and several other countries.

Honeycrisp

Nurseries must be licensed to propagate and sell protected trees.

If you want to become licensed to propagate protected varieties developed by the University of Minnesota, the
U of M Office for Technology Commercialization (OTC) would be happy to help you. Information about Plant Varieties is available on the OTC site. You can also submit Licensing and Technical Questions online.
